Choma central aspiring member of parliament Joe Muchindu has urged young athletes in the constituency to embrace discipline and hard work if they are to succeed in their careers.

And Muchindu has pledged continued support to sports development targeting youths in Choma.

Muchindu has also urged community members to mobilize and form sports teams for girls, whom he said are usually left out especially those in rural areas.

The outspoken leader stated that his office remains committed to ensuring that no member of the constituency is left behind in developmental matters, among them, sports development involving young people.

Officiating at the 2025 Siamoote memorial sports tournament held in Masuku ward, Muchindu urged emerging athletes to exhibit high levels of discipline if they are to go places.

“And this is why we have the media here to capture you for the outside world to see, and if you are discipline and hardworking, you will definitely attract the attention of someone out there,” he said.

“Even me as your leader I have people whom I can talk to once I see that you have talent. My support for sports development in Choma remains intact,” he added.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents thronged the venue for the tournament which has also attracted the business community selling different merchandise, an initiative Muchindu commended.

Over 22 boys and 7 female teams were by press time battling it out in a game of soccer.

Ajax, Mweeze, Bafana, Zeula and Eagles are some participating teams.

The Siamoote memorial sports tournament is the biggest sport gathering held annually in Choma.

Muchindu has graced this year’s tournament, much to the delight of locals.
