The frequency of these incidents demands serious investment in mental health services. Rarely does a day pass without a report of suicide or suspected suicide.

While acknowledging the complexity of underlying reasons, it’s clear Zambia needs to prioritize mental health support.

Encouraging open conversations in families, communities, workplaces, and churches can help break down barriers.

The government, through the Ministry of Health, should urgently address the need for mental health institutions like Chainama Hills Hospital.

There’s also the need to have more psychosocial counselors s in our communities. People are going through a lot and need professionals to talk to.

However, and most importantly, families are crucial in promoting open discussions on mental health.

We also need to work together in breaking the stigma and discrimination against Chainama hospital by raising awareness on mental health. By so doing, we will be encouraging the public to visit the institution for mental health services.

By raising awareness, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health services. Mental Health Matters – let’s break the silence.”
