A serious water crisis has persisted in Lusaka’s Kamanga compound and surrounding areas, with some households not having the commodity for months now.

Residents in the affected communities, among them, Kamanga itself, Overspill one and two and other nearby areas had previously complained about lack of the commodity.

Utility company, the Lusaka water and sanitation services had sometime 2024 commenced a water rationing plan which was to run alongside the Zesco load shedding schedule.

But months later, the residents have continued facing water challenges, and have been complaining of hygenic concerns.

A community round up conducted found that the affected residents in Kamanga have been fetching the important commodity at a UPND tank located across the road opposite Obama mall, whilst those from nearby areas get the commodity from private households where they pay K2 for a 20 liter container or bucket.

One of the affected residents Mulenga Mulubwa complained that the water situation had gotten out of hand.

Mulubwa appealed to the utility company to address the water crisis in the affected areas, adding that households had been kept in the dark for long, and were wondering as to what was happening.

Lusaka water and sanitation services company is yet to be reached for an explanation over the matter.
