POLICE in Lusaka have launched investigations in a matter in which a man, 53, was found dead at Dream Star Lodge in Matero Township where he allegedly went to have ‘a good time’ with his lover.

The woman, 34, of Mwachinongo, 15 Miles, has since been detained to assist police with investigations.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday.

Mr Hamoonga said Matero Police Station received a report of sudden death on Friday last week.

“Police in Lusaka are investigating a case of sudden death which happened on November 07, 2025 at Dream Star Lodge situated along Great North Road, Chingwere turn-off,” Mr Hamoonga said.

He said the incident was reported around 23:40 hours by Darlington Msoni, 40, of Chazanga Township, a security guard at the said lodge.

Mr Hamoonga said it was reported that the victim, Samuel Mbulo, of Kabanana Site and Service, had checked into room number 105 in the company of a woman.

Mr Mbulo, who reportedly collapsed, was rushed to Matero Level One Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Mr Hamoonga said Mbulo checked into the lodge around 16:00 hours and the incident happened around 20:00 hours.

He said around 20:00 hours, a bar attendant, only identified as Martha, informed a security guard that a male client in room 105 had collapsed.

“The guard rushed to the said room and found the man lying on the bed facing upwards, only dressed in underpants. He immediately rushed the victim to Matero Level One Hospital using his motor vehicle, where medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival,” Mr Hamoonga said.
