PRESS STATEMENT
FATAL ELECTROCUTION INCIDENT
December 7, 2025-Two members of the same family have died from electrocution, while another sustained burns in an incident that occurred on December 7, 2025, around 12:00 hours in Kabanana Site and Service, Lusaka.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Priscilla Mwansa, aged 44, was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a laundry wire that had come into contact with electrically charged iron sheets on the roof.
Her daughters, Roma Banda, aged 24, and Faith Banda, aged 10, attempted to rescue her. During the incident, the drying wire snapped, causing all three to fall to the ground.
Priscilla Mwansa and Faith Banda died instantly, while Roma Banda sustained burns on her hand and is currently receiving treatment at Chipata Level One Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
Personnel from ZESCO Limited were notified and attended to the scene
Police have since opened an inquiry file into the matter.
