Don’t be fooled by these ‘comestic improvements’ by government – Njobvu warns citizens
…says they are attempts to lure electorates ahead of elections
By Francis Chipalo
DEMOCRATIC Union (DU) President Ackim Antony Njobvu has cautioned citizens against falling for what he termed as ‘Comestic improvements’ by the UPND government ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Cosmetic improvement refers to making something look better on the surface, or enhancing the appearance of something without necessarily fixing the underlying issues permanently.
For the past few days, some communities in certain parts of the country have reported an improvement in power supply (reduced load shedding), with community members surprisingly having the commodity for at least 24 hours or more without interruptions.
In some areas around Lusaka, people who are reportedly having electricity for days have taken to social media, expressing their surprise to the miracles taking place.
Water availability has also improved in Lusaka.
This is despite the country having endured the worst energy (electricity) crisis that saw people having less than three hours of the commodity.
Commenting on the development, the DU leader warned Zambians not to fall for ‘political gymics’ by President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration, stating that this is an attempt to lure people to vote for the UPND next year.
Njobvu further projected that as the elections draw more closer, citizens should not be surprise when they see a further reduction in commodity prices such as mealie meal, fuel and other items.
He challenged government to state what is leading to the sudden change of things in the country after failing to address the issues four years of being in power.
Njobvu added that the current miracles happening are nothing, but attempts by government to entice Zambians.
The opposition leader has reminded Zambians of what the current government has made them go through in four years.
He also said without government explaining the miracles, Zambians should expect a more worser situation in an event that the new dawn bounces back to power after the elections.
He said government has failed to provide permanent solutions to the country’s challenges.
Meanwhile, Njobvu has however expressed confidence that Zambians will fire HH and the UPND next year, replacing them with his party the DU for a new Zambia.
