Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga has urged businesses to reduce prices following the continued appreciation of the Kwacha.
Mulenga said the strengthening currency reflects growing confidence in Zambia’s economic fundamentals and sound government policies.
He noted that the stronger Kwacha has led to lower costs for imported goods, fuel, and production inputs.
He said these gains, along with reduced inflation and improved electricity supply, should translate into lower prices for consumers.
Mulenga called on traders, retailers, and manufacturers to review their pricing structures and make appropriate downward adjustments.
He emphasised that responsible pricing would ease the cost of living and support sustainable business growth.
Government, he said, remains committed to working with the private sector to ensure that the benefits of economic progress are shared fairly.
