THE UNIVERSITY Teaching Hospitals-UTH yesterday collected Ketai Mwale-Kangwa’s DNA samples in an on-going alleged child-theft case.

Sources close to the development tells TV Yatu that Ketai, 37, was asked to visit the Hospital for collection of her DNA samples, to be compared with the lifeless body of an infant UTH claims is hers.

And yesterday in the morning Ketai visited the Hospital where her UTH collected her mouth skin cells via scraping.

When this was done, the sources say Police officers in the company of UTH medical staff reportedly proceeded to collect samples from the lifeless remains of Ketai’s purported child.

The sources say when the mother of the infant UTH claims is Ketai’s attempted to tag along, she was stopped with a claim that nothers were not allowed to witness, unless other relatives.

Sources say concern over how the extraction of DNA samples has been administered, has been raised.

They say, in an event that their child is alive, without a family member witnessing which infant’s body DNA samples were being collected, there can be a match of results.

They say the manner in which DNA samples are said to have been collected from the infant brings in more suspicion.

According to them, without the presence of any family member, a postmortem was yesterday carried on the infact claimed to be Ketai’s son.

“Our belief is that, since this matter is being argued, we needed to close all loopholes for possible suspicion. Now, the same UTH we say our child went missing, is doing tests on the same infant to prove the child is ours. And this is done without witnessing it. Results can be cooked,” the concerned source shared.

They say despite insistence from the child’s mother to be present as all processes were being carried, she was denied an opportunity to at least lay to rest some of her suspicions.
They say UTH assured the mother they would expedite the DNA testing to bring the issue to a quick close and allow further investigations if any, to ensue.
