President Hakainde Hichilema

President Hakainde Hichilema has hailed Zambia’s economic progress, highlighting stability in the kwacha and easing inflation.

He expressed gratitude to citizens for their resilience and support during the reform journey.

Hichilema emphasised that prudent fiscal management and structural reforms have delivered tangible results.

He acknowledged the IMF’s partnership and affirmed commitment to building upon the foundations now in place.

The Head of State declared that in 2021 the country was in default, but today it is on the path to prosperity.

He noted that inflation has dropped to single digits, offering relief to household budgets.

Hichilema observed that public debt has fallen significantly, freeing resources for clinics, schools, and roads.

He remarked that lower debt means families can invest in their children’s future rather than remain trapped in repayments.

This is contained in a statement issued, Thursday, by State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka.
