Zambian music star Chile One MrZambia has hit back at critics who have been mocking his appearance on social media, telling them to stop listening to his music, unfollow him, and stop attending his shows if they are not comfortable with how he presents himself.

Chile One, born Obed Chileshe, has been trending heavily after he attended the artistic send-off ceremony of late artiste Chiko Wise at Lusaka Playhouse last Friday, where his dusty footwear and overall look became a hot topic online.

What some fans claimed was “advice” quickly turned into a roasting session, with social media users picking apart everything from his shoes to his grooming.

This latest backlash comes barely two weeks after the singer faced criticism for his scruffy appearance in a photo with President Hakainde Hichilema after performing at Youth Day celebrations in Solwezi.

At the time, the criticism reportedly pressured the artiste into trimming his hair and beard.
However, this time Chile One did not remain silent.

Going live on Facebook on Saturday, the “Fwebaku Chaume” hitmaker appeared visibly agitated and made it clear that he does not need validation from online critics.

“Block me, stop listening to my music, stop coming to my shows,” the singer said.
Chile One stated that he knows who he is and remains confident about his journey, adding that critics are only making him stronger by giving him attention and engagement.

“I know who I am, I believe in myself, one day I’m gonna win and I will tell you my story,” he said.

He further told critics that their insults do not affect him, especially if he does not know them personally.

“As long as I don’t know you, I don’t care about what you say. You are roasting me but you’re giving me engagement and making my business stronger,” he added.

Chile One went on to boast that while people think they are embarrassing him, they are actually helping his brand grow and attract opportunities.

“My interest is making money. You’re commenting on my post with your K2,000 worth of a phone while I’m using a phone worth K80,000,” Chile One said.

The singer’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans defended him and praised him for standing up for himself, others insisted that public figures should accept criticism and improve their public image.

One supporter, Precious Hamayobe, wrote:
“Tell them mwandi they want to fix you when they don’t know how to fix them self me I like everything about you.”

Meanwhile, another user, Mulenga Simon, urged the singer to take care of his hygiene while still joking about the criticism.

Despite the debate, Chile One maintained his stance, insisting that anyone uncomfortable with him should simply walk away.
