Luangeni Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Moyo, has expressed his gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) for creating an enabling environment that allows development partnerships to flourish.

He said this support has been vital in delivering practical solutions to communities.

Moyo, building on his constituency-wide water programme, has since commissioned a 20,000-litre water tank in Chikando Ward, Kazimomwe area of Nzamane Chiefdom, delivered with support from Living Water International.

Moyo’s Trustee on Projects, Goodson Nkhuwa, thanked Moyo and Living Water International for their commitment to bringing safe water closer to the people of Nzamane Chiefdom.

Moyo added that Living Water International has provided running water in 10 schools, nearby villages and health centres, along with toilets in the same schools and health centres, greatly improving sanitation and public health.

He further noted that Living Water International has drilled over 40 ordinary boreholes in villages from 2021 to date, expanding access to clean water across the constituency.

He explained that the tank will provide clean and safe drinking water to households that previously relied on unsafe streams, reducing health risks and easing the burden on women and children who walked long distances to fetch water.

He stressed that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) considerations were central to the initiative, ensuring that women, children, and vulnerable groups benefit most from improved access.

Moyo highlighted that the project contributes to climate change adaptation by strengthening community resilience against droughts, while also supporting small-scale farming and food security.

He added that sustainability has been prioritised, with communities encouraged to take ownership of the facility for long-term maintenance.

The MP linked the initiative to Zambia’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation, and Goal 13 on climate action.

Moyo said the project reflects his commitment to improving livelihoods, promoting health, and advancing sustainable development in Luangeni.
