Veteran politician and UPND senior member William Banda said Lusaka Central Constituency needs new leadership in the forthcoming election.

Banda, who addressed a mammoth rally of women in Bauleni compound, said people are fed up with the absence of area Member of Parliament and his Councillors.

“I am the one who is now attending to people’s problems as if I am MP,” Banda told the all women rally.

Banda has lived most of his life in Bauleni where is fondly known as “our father” or “Headman”. He provides water, food and clothing in the community.

“Last time, I had to buy water bowsers to assist people in Bauleni and yet him (MP) complained that I want his job. I don’t want to be MP or Councillor,” he said, warning that if same MP is adopted he will stay away from campaigns but only work with President HH.

He urged the women to give President Hakainde Hichilema 100 percent votes in the coming election saying he will make sure the President goes through.

“But the party should not give us that MP who has disappeared with his Councillor here. We want an MP who these people can work with. That one has failed…” he said as crowds cheered in agreement.

Banda said people were told to form cooperatives but nothing has happened to them in terms of assistance.

Banda thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for upping the CDF funding but that few people in Bauleni are accessing the same due bad leadership.

Bauleni is only densely populated area in Lusaka Central with massive votes while the rest of areas are seen as elites such as Ibex Hill, Kabulonga, Woodlands, Nyumba Yanga, Rhodespark, Longacres, State Lodge and New Kasama.
