A FEMALE TRUCK driver identified as Venny Mweemba has died in a tragic road accident in Mkushi District alongside her teenage male relative, who was travelling with her.
According to details obtained by TV Yatu’s Noel Iyombwa, Mweemba, 56, died on the spot together with 19-year-old Nchimunya Habeene.
Sources familiar with the incident say the accident happened in the Mpula area of Mkushi District after the driver allegedly lost control of the truck while attempting to avoid a Tanzanian truck that nearly collided with her vehicle.
The truck is reported to have veered off the road and rammed into about three shops before coming to a stop.
The accident is believed to have occurred on May 20, 2026.
Efforts to get a comment from Central Province Police Commanding Officer Lemekani Chirwa were unsuccessful by broadcast time.
