Juba Transport has clarified that it did not neglect the body of its driver, Danny Silwimba who died in Mozambique after being hit by a motor vehicle at a place called Inchobe in that country.
Company Corporate Affairs Manager Chisha Phiri explains that delays to repatriate the body of the late Mr. Silwimba was as a result of procedures that the company had to follow in order to bring the remains back to the country.
This follows a recent protest by Juba Truck Drivers against the company for allegedly neglecting the late Mr. Silwimba who died in Mozambique after it was reported that the company only sent for the truck that the deceased was driving to be brought back to Zambia, leaving the deceased in a morgue in that country.
However, Mr. phiri has told Journalists at a media briefing that company and family representatives dispatched to collect Mr. Silwimba’s body were shocked when they first saw the body shortly before embalming that it was decomposing.
He disclosed that the company did not receive support from authorities in Mozambique as up to date, the authorities have concealed details of the person who hit Mr. Silwimba apart from just the name and the fact that he/she is a government official in that country.
