A 40-YEAR OLD TRUCK DRIVER COMMIT SUICIDE AFTER HIS TRUCK WAS IMPOUNDED AT KATETE WEIGH BRIDGE

A 40-year-old truck driver, Ramzy Hadji Mushe, has died in an apparent suicide at Tikondane Lodge in Katete district, Eastern Province.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, after Mushe’s truck, laden with ceramic tiles, was impounded at Katete Weigh Bridge for overloading.

According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, Mushe had checked into the lodge and locked himself in his room.

He was found unconscious on the bed by the lodge’s Deputy Director, Mostapha Phiri, with an empty bottle of Doom insecticide beside him.

Mushe’s body has been taken to St. Francis Hospital Mortuary pending identification, postmortem examination, and burial.
