ARE ZAMBIAN CELEBRITIES QUIETLY INFLUENCING ADDICTION AMONG OUR YOUTH?

This is a difficult conversation, but one we may need to start having.

In my work as a psychologist and mental health clinician, I have noticed some worrying patterns among young people struggling with substance use and gambling addiction.

Could celebrity culture and entertainment be shaping how young people view drugs, alcohol, and gambling?

This is not about blaming artists. Many musicians and public figures do incredible work and inspire millions.

But influence is powerful — and sometimes we must reflect on how culture shapes behavior.

I wrote a short article sharing some observations from the frontline of addiction treatment.

I would genuinely like to hear thoughts from artists, parents, educators, and young people themselves.
