THE Catholic Church has cautioned men against excessive borrowing of money to please their partners as it can result in depression and even death.
Kabwe Diocese vicar-general Peter Tembo says men should endeavour to live within their means.
Father Tembo, who is Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus administrator, said unregulated borrowing has landed some men in financial distress, resulting in depression.
He said in as much as some men are doing their best to please their spouses and take care of their families, they should be honest about their income.
Fr Tembo said men should not go beyond their financial limits as they risk placing themselves under pressure.
He said this yesterday after he commissioned members of Catholic Men’s League of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Veronica and St Charles Lwanga.
