A 12-year-old boy has died in Lumezi district, Eastern province, after being stoned by his 11-year-old female friend, while they were playing.
Eastern Province Police Commanding, ROBERTSON MWEEMBA has confirmed the incident, which happened on Saturday, November 9, around 14 hours.
This was at Nkhanyu Trading in Chieftainess MWASEMPHANGWE’a area.
Mr MWEEMBA has explained that the deceased and the suspect were among a group of juveniles, which were playing together when the incident happened.
He has added that the boy met his fate when he got a pair of slippers from the suspect and ran away and in turn, the girl threw a stone, which hit the back of the head of the deceased.
Mr MWEEMBA has stated that the boy was admitted to Lumezi District Hospital after the incident, but he later died yesterday.
He has said the suspect is in the custody of her parents and would be taken to police when need arises as both sets of parents agreed that it was not intentional.
