Chief Shaibila has proposed Mulilafyela as the name for the new constituency in Mkushi District.

Freelance Journalist Winter Mubanga of Luano reports that the Traditional Leader emphasised that Mulilafyela is more than a stream; it is a symbol of heritage and resilience.

He explained that the stream flows from the Imanga Mountains, where the Lala people historically mined and smelted iron, shaping tools that sustained agriculture and trade.

The Chief highlighted that naming the constituency Mulilafyela would honour the ingenuity and industry of the ancestors.

He stressed that the name reflects productivity and creativity rather than colonial confrontation.

He further observed that Mulilafyela carries memory and identity, reminding future generations of the resilience of their people.

The Chief underscored that a constituency name must embody dignity and continuity, not merely describe a boundary.

Chief Mulungwe, a neighbouring leader, affirmed his support for the proposal, noting that the name represents unity between their chiefdoms and preserves the cultural significance of the region.
