Munali ‘s community leader Chrispin Chiinda has expressed concern with the quality of roads being done in some areas of the constituency.

Whilst appreciating efforts of improving road network in the constituency, Chiinda says the quality of roads being upgraded leaves much to be desired.

Featuring on KBN TV’ Lunch Time Chat, Tuesday afternoon, Chiinda says efforts by area member of parliament to improve roads in the constituency are welcome, but was quick to express concern that people’s vehicles have continued damaging their shock absorbers due to the bad status of the roads.

He observed that grading of roads and later on flooding them with stones on the suffice is a source of concern to motorists, who has says don’t use the roads anymore.

“The intention to work on these roads is good and welcome but the concern is the manner how these roads are being done. People are now avoiding these roads being upgraded in Munali and still use the great east for fear of losing their shocks and vehicle CV joints,” Chiinda said.

Chiinda further says digesting of the great east road hasn’t worked as motorists prefer using the road to protect their vehicles from damage.

And Chiinda says instead of demolishing people’s properties that had allegedly encroached on road reserves in Munali, leaders should instead engage community members and find better ways of addressing such issues.

Meanwhile, Chiinda has also expressed with works being done on “Cash for work” program in some parts of Munali constituency.

The community leader who is also Munali aspiring member of parliament disclosed that people engaged to unblock drainages have nowhere to take the garbage, saying the waste is finding itself back in drainages again especially with onset of the rains.

“We welcome all these initiatives but we should not replicate these works or rather redoing them, otherwise our efforts would be in vain,” he added.
