CHOLERA KÎLLS 6 OUT OF 1385 CASES

Thirty-Six deaths from Cholera have so far been recorded in Lusaka out of 1, 385 cases recorded from October, 2023.

Speaking during a briefing, Thursday, Minister of Health, Health Sylvia Masebo, also disclosed that Lusaka Province currently has 90 individuals admitted to Cholera facilities.

She noted that Kanyama is the most affected with 29 admissions, followed by Chawama with 13, while Matero has 10 cholera patients in admission.

Masebo added that other affected areas are Kalingalinga with 9 admissions, Chilanga with 8 patients in admission and Chongwe with 6 admissions, among others.

She emphasized the need for people to sustain hygiene practices to avoid spread and contracting the disease, further urging citizens to consider boiling their water before drinking or use chlorine as a safety measure.

Masebo said government is working with multiple local and international stakeholders to ensure targeted and timely response activities to curb more cholera outbreaks.
