CHONGWE WEST NEEDS FRESH, ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP TO UNLOCK DEVELOPMENT – HAPUNDA

With two months to Zambia’s 13th August general elections, Chongwe West MP aspirant Brian Hapunda has called for a shift to fresh, accountable leadership, saying the constituency deserves representation that puts development first.

Hapunda said residents have endured years of limited progress and now need a leader focused on solving everyday problems rather than politics.

“For too long, Chongwe West has been promised a lot but seen very little. Our people need a representative who will prioritize community interests, be transparent with public resources, and deliver results that can be seen and felt,” he said.

Hapunda made transparency in the Constituency Development Fund his top priority.

Said that CDF must be managed openly so it benefits communities directly through meaningful projects.

“The CDF belongs to the people of Chongwe West. Every kwacha should go into roads, clinics, skills training, and support for small businesses. Accountability is not negotiable,” he stated.

The aspiring lawmaker pledged to champion youth and women empowerment as drivers of growth. He said his office would push for skills development, entrepreneurship support, and access to funding so young people and women-led groups can create sustainable livelihoods.

With agriculture as the constituency’s backbone, Hapunda also promised stronger representation for farmers. He said improving productivity and market access would raise household incomes and grow the local economy.

Hapunda further stressed the need to upgrade public infrastructure. He said better roads, schools, and health facilities are critical for improving service delivery and unlocking Chongwe West’s potential.

“Development must be visible in our communities. Chongwe West deserves leadership that listens first, then delivers,” he added.

As campaigns intensify, Hapunda said voters should judge candidates by their plans and track record. Development, accountability, and empowerment are expected to be key issues in the race for the newly created constituency.
