Former Zambia captain Chris Katongo has left for Ivory Coast on the invitation of the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

The African Cup of Nations winning captain will be one of the 24 CAF ambassadors attached to each team.

The former Green Buffaloes and Brondby legend will be attached to Chipolopolo Boys.

Katongo led the Chipolopolo Boys to their famous Africa Cup of Nations triumph back in 2012 in Gabon.

He was named as the BBC African Footballer of the year in 2012.

He will link up with Avram Grant’s men in San Pedro.

The Chipolopolo will face DR Congo on Wednesday at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in a 22h00 (Zambian Time) kickoff in their opening Group F fixture with the second game against Tanzania four days later.

Zambia’s final group match will be against the Atlas Lions on January 24.
