Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Munali Parliamentary Candidate Chrispin Chiinda has appealed to the church to pray for the election of leaders who genuinely care for the people and deliver on community development.
Chiinda, who is standing on the Resolute Party ticket, made the call on Sunday during a visit to the Redeemed Methodist Church, Mtendere congregation in Lusaka.
“Fellow Citizens, our Sunday commenced with a visit to the Redeemed Methodist Church, Mtendere congregation, where we had the privilege of addressing the congregation and inspecting the guard of honour presented by the Boys and Girls Brigade,” Chiinda said.
He urged the church, as the body of Christ, to intercede for congregants to choose leaders with integrity and a proven commitment to service.
“Our message was an appeal to the church to pray for its members who are also members of the community to elect leaders who genuinely care for the people and are capable of delivering on their promises regarding community development,” he said.
Chiinda told congregants that leadership directly affects community welfare.
“Effective leadership is a cause for celebration, while ineffective leadership brings sorrow to the community,” he said.
He said character remains the most critical quality for public office, adding that Munali residents already know his record.
“The community is well-acquainted with our character, and character is the paramount quality of a leader. Our commitment is to serve the community and be its voice,” Chiinda said.
Chiinda is contesting the Munali seat under the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance ahead of the August 13 elections.
