Government has urged opposition-aligned legal commentators to stop misleading the public regarding Constitution Amendment Bill Number 7 of 2025.
Chief Government Spokesperson CORNELLIUS MWEETWA says the bill is not illegal and will proceed as scheduled.
Mr. MWEETWA says both the Executive and Parliament are acting in full compliance with the Constitution and parliamentary standing orders.
Speaking during a Government–Media engagement in Lusaka, Mr. MWEETWA described as malicious the claim by the Law Association of Zambia –LAZ- that Bill Number 7 was nullified by the Constitutional Court in the case of MUNIR ZULU and CELESTINE MUKANDILA v. the Attorney General.
Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Minister of Information and Media, further said Bill Number 7 of 2025 will proceed to second reading once the Parliamentary Select Committee concludes its work.
