The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has distributed over 7.5 million Condoms on the copperbelt to curb rising sti’s in teenagers and young adults.

ZAMMSA Senior Public Relations Manager Bradley Chingobe, has disclosed in a statement,that recent media reports indicating that over 5,000 people on the Copperbelt have been treated for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) this year, calls for for concern.

Mr. Chingobe says, despite the fact that ZAMMSA has distributed significant amounts of condoms to the province sti’s infections records remain high.

“ZAMMSA has supplied a total number of 6,975,020 male condoms through regular orders, as well as an additional 552,920 condoms included in the Health Center Kits distributed across the Copperbelt this year. ” Stated Chingobe.

He said, the Agency has also made available 49,844 female condoms. Adding up to nearly 8 million male and female condoms provided to health care facilities on the Copperbelt in the current year.

Mr.Chingobe has since assured the public that ZAMMSA has enough stock of Reproductive Health commodities, including both male and female condoms, nationwide.

He adds that ZAMMSA takes cognizance of the critical role that the life saving commodities play in communities, he further added that ZAMMSA is consistently delivering essential medicines and medical supplies countrywide.

He has since encouraged all health facilities to maintain routine orders and communicate with ZAMMSA for the possibility of placing emergency orders when stock levels are low.

Mr.Chingobe has also urged the public to fully utilize the free reproductive health commodities at the over 3000 public health facilities across the country.
