The Anti-Corruption Commission –ACC- has arrested a 45-year-old Court Registrar in Chirundu on allegations of theft involving over 31,000 Kwacha.
ACC Senior Corporate Communications Officer, DOROTHY MZUMARA, has identified the suspect as MILLION NKHATA, who is accused of diverting funds meant for a plaintiff for personal use.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Ms. MZUMARA explained that the incident occurred following a court judgement delivered on 20th January 2024, after which the defendant handed over the money to Mr. NKHATA.
Instead of transferring the funds to the rightful recipient, Mr. NKHATA allegedly used the money for his own benefit.
She added that Mr. NKHATA has since appeared in court, and the matter has been adjourned.
