The Centre for Peace Research and Advocacy (CPRA) has congratulated Bright Nundwe and the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) on their success in the Chawama Parliamentary by-election.

CPRA Executive Director Cliffton Chifuwe underscored that the result reflects the strength and resilience of Zambia’s democratic institutions.
He highlighted the peaceful and credible nature of the by-election as a clear indication of the country’s democratic maturity.
Chifuwe commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for its professional and transparent management of the electoral process.
He noted that the Commission’s efficiency and adherence to electoral regulations enhanced public confidence in the outcome.
CPRA acknowledged the commendable conduct of all political parties and candidates who participated in the by-election.
Their peaceful campaigns reaffirmed the belief that politics should be a contest of ideas, not intimidation.
The organisation recognised the United Party for National Development (UPND) for avoiding the misuse of incumbency.
The Zambia Police Service was praised for its impartial and professional conduct during the election.
Chifuwe encouraged the police to maintain this standard as the country approaches the general elections.
He urged all stakeholders to remain peaceful, tolerant, and committed to democratic values.
