LUSAKA, Zambia – Popular Zambian musician Madalitso Phiri, widely known as Dalisoul Mwana Wamu Komboni, has been fined K800 after pleading guilty to driving without a valid driver’s licence.
Appearing before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Civic Centre, Dalisoul admitted to the offence and expressed remorse for his actions.
The musician told the court that he regretted the incident and pledged to become a road safety ambassador, encouraging motorists to comply with traffic regulations.
The conviction stems from a recent road traffic accident involving Dalisoul’s vehicle and a Zambia Police Service motorbike in Lusaka.
The court convicted Phiri on the charge of driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence and subsequently fined him K800.
The accident left Inspector Kwibisa Mbuye (39), who was riding the police motorbike, with minor injuries. He was treated at Maina Soko Medical Centre and later discharged.
The case attracted widespread public attention due to Dalisoul’s status as one of Zambia’s most recognizable musicians.
