The Drug Enforcement Commission working with the Zambia Police, the Department of Immigration and the Anti-terrorism organisation have conducted a raid on Golden Top Support Services in Lusaka’s Roma area, uncovering a sophisticated internet fraud syndicate.
The organization guised as an internet café, possessed sim boxing machines facilitating the bypassing of local service providers’ networks for fraudulent activities including internet fraud and online scams.
DEC Director General, Nason Banda says over 13, 000 Airtel, MTN and Vodafone sim cards both domestic and international have been seized as counting is in process.
The intelligence operation also seized two firearms with 78 rounds of ammunition and two motor vehicles, a Toyota Land Cruiser and Alphard registered to a Chinese national.
77 suspects including 50 males and 27 females from Zambia, 22 Chinese and 1 Cameroonian have been apprehended.
