Popular media personality and entertainer DJ Mzengaman has sparked conversations online after sharing a motivational message about poverty, success, and mindset.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, DJ Mzengaman said many people remain poor not because life failed them, but because they fear success and have been conditioned to think small.
“Many people stay poor because success scares them,” he wrote.
According to the entertainer, some communities have normalized struggle to the point where ambition is often criticized instead of encouraged.
DJ Mzengaman explained that many young people with dreams of building businesses, investing, or creating successful careers are sometimes discouraged by society, which acts as though success should only come at a certain age.
“Some people are not poor because life failed them, they are poor because they were trained to fear success,” he stated.
He further argued that many individuals spend years complaining about poverty while mocking people who are actively trying to improve their lives.
“The truth is, many communities normalize struggle so much that they attack ambition and celebrate survival instead of progress,” he added.
The entertainer stressed that success requires intentional effort, discipline, vision, and self-development.
According to DJ Mzengaman, some young people are currently changing their lives by:
Learning skills
Building brands
Starting businesses
Investing wisely
Creating opportunities
while others remain stuck in gossip, excuses, and comfort zones.
“Success is intentional. Poverty can also become intentional when people refuse to change their mindset, refuse to learn, refuse to plan, and spend all their energy criticizing others instead of improving themselves,” he wrote.
DJ Mzengaman also warned that constantly comparing oneself to negative environments can limit personal growth and opportunities.
“If you keep thinking like everyone around you, chances are your life will look exactly like theirs too,” he added.
His message has since attracted reactions from social media users, with many agreeing that mindset, discipline, and determination play a major role in financial growth and personal success.
The post comes at a time when many young Zambians continue exploring entrepreneurship, online businesses, content creation, and investments as alternative ways of improving their lives amid economic challenges.
