Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu has weighed in on the alleged threats to civil servants attributed to Brian Mundubile.
NRPUP President Mundubile has reportedly warned and given civil servants a one-month ultimatum to change their work culture, alleging that some had openly supported the current government.
It has further been reported that when in government, there will be a “clean up” in the civil service.
His statement attracted mixed condemnation with the UPND describing it as a direct threat to the civil servants.
Adding his thoughts on the comments during Sunday Chat on Christian Nation Radio, President Njobvu of the DU described the statement as unfortunate.
“I personally wouldn’t issue such a statement because I believe civil servants are partners in development. They are implementors,” he said.
He said Zambians should avoid voting for leaders whose agenda is revenge at the expense of national development.
Njobvu recalled that the UPND wasted a lot of time persecuting members of the former ruling Patriotic Front, taking them to provinces to answer to charges for alleged crimes.
He said the country cannot go back to such, saying focus should be on addressing real issues affecting Zambians, among them the high cost of living.
“This is why I have consistently called on Zambians to vote for a neutral person in this year’s elections who will also see to it that there is reconciliation between UPND and PF,” he added.
Njobvu recently warned that there will be “gnashing of teeth” in the UPND should Patriotic Front perceived members win the August 13 2026 general elections.
