UPND National Chairperson for Women, Ms. Doreen Mwamba has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa, describing her as a role model who put service before self.
Ms Mwamba, who led fellow women party members after signing a book of condolences, hailed Ms Mwanawasa as an icon of socio-economic development and described her life as “well lived”.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of her death,” Mwamba expressed, reflecting Madam Mwanawasa’s significant contributions to Zambia through mature and selfless politics devoid of insults, name-calling, and hate speech.
Ms. Mwamba who is also Minister of Community Development and Social Services, called for unity in the face of the emotional loss, emphasizing the importance of coming together as a nation during times of grief and to learn vital life lessons that defined the late former first lady.
She offered words of comfort to the grieving family, urging them to find solace in their faith by trusting in God’s comfort during this difficult time.
Ms Mwamba further said the former first lady leaves behind a legacy of dedication to community and development initiatives in Zambia, remembered fondly by many for her impactful contributions to society
