Chirundu – Democratic Union (DU) leaders, led by President Ackim Antony Njobvu, held mobilization meetings in Chirundu, urging party unity and hard work ahead of the August 2026 general elections.
Njobvu emphasized transforming the country and encouraged youth and women to take leading governance roles, highlighting DU’s desire to appoint them as provincial ministers and district officials.
Njobvu, who was accompanied by Secretary General Gerald Mulao and his deputy Thompson Shachobe, met party members from Chirundu district as well others officials from Southern and North Western province.
Addressing the officials, Njobvu called for hard work and unity of purpose among DU members.
NJobvu stressed the importance of working together and further called on party officials to go flat out in spreading DU messages which includes transformation of the country.
He also emphasized the importance of young people’s participation in governance matters, encouraging the youth to take a leading role.
NJobvu also encouraged women to stand up and rise to the occasion, further stressing DU’s desire of appointments women and youth as provincial ministers and district commissioners respectively.
Meanwhile, SG Mulao pledged the party’s full support to all structures across the country. Mulao also told officials that they had the power to hire and fire leaders, adding that this year’s elections presents them an opportunity to retire the UPND and hire the Democratic Union for a new and better Zambia.
Party officials expressed readiness and support for president Njobvu and the Democratic Union.
The DU leadership is currently conducting national mobilization tours, having placed themselves as an alternative party capable of learning Zambia away from the “disorganised” opposition and the failed New Dawn administration.
