Dump dead body and come up with a manifesto – UPND tells opposition

Mark Simuwe

By Francis Chipalo

UPND media director Mark Simuwe has challenged the opposition to “dump the dead body”and come up with a proper manifesto in their political discourse.

And Simuwe claims that the UPND still remains the most popular political party in the country.

Speaking at a media briefing Monday morning, Simuwe stated that recent victories in various by-elections was evidence enough that Zambians have confidence in the ruling party.

Simuwe boastfully said the opposition cannot beat the UPND’s record even if they combined their results from previous elections.

He said the ruling party was worried that four years of being in power, President Hakainde Hichilema has no contender worth challenging him in next year’s elections.

He said it was unfortunate that the opposition was trying to use a dead body as their campaign message to Zambians.

“If they are sensible enough, let them dump the dead body and come up with a proper manifesto. They should stop using a dead body to campaign,” Simuwe said.

Simuwe has since described the current opposition as the worst the country has ever had.

“The best message for us to people of Zambia is what we have done for them. We have no opposition and that worries us as UPND,” he added.
