ECONOMIST WARNS ZRA PLATFORM DISRUPTIONS SLOW DOWN TRANSACTIONS, COMPLIANCE PROCESSES
Economist Kelvin Chisanga says the current system disruptions at the Zambia Revenue Authority are creating operational challenges for businesses across the country.
In a statement, Chisanga emphasised that companies depend heavily on ZRA digital platforms to process invoices, validate tax documentation and manage credit transactions linked to compliance requirements.
He noted that with the system experiencing downtime, it has become increasingly difficult for businesses to coordinate key operational functions, particularly those related to invoice processing, credit management and tax verification.
The Economist stressed that this disruption is slowing down financial transactions between suppliers and clients, as many payments depend on verified tax invoices and system confirmations.
Chisanga highlighted that small and medium enterprises are particularly affected, as their cash flow cycles rely on timely invoice approvals and payment processing.
He pointed out that delays in these processes can create temporary financial pressure and disrupt normal business operations.
The Economist underlined that while Zambia has made progress in digitalising tax administration, the situation highlights the importance of strengthening system resilience and ensuring stable digital infrastructure within critical public institutions.
