Lusaka, Zambia – June 14, 2026 – The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has officially lifted the suspension of all political campaign activities in Mazabuka Central Constituency with immediate effect following a review of the prevailing situation in the area.
According to a public notice issued by ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro, the decision was reached after consultations with relevant stakeholders and an assessment of the security and campaign environment within the constituency.
The Commission stated that the review confirmed that the conditions necessary to guarantee a peaceful, secure, and conducive campaign atmosphere have now been fully met.
Campaign Activities Resume Immediately
ECZ noted that political parties, candidates, and their supporters can now resume campaign activities in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Process Act and the Electoral Code of Conduct.
The suspension had been put in place as part of efforts to maintain order and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process in the constituency.
ECZ Calls for Peaceful Campaigns
While announcing the lifting of the suspension, the Commission urged all political stakeholders and members of the public to continue conducting themselves responsibly throughout the campaign period.
ECZ emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, respect, and adherence to electoral laws to ensure a free and fair democratic process.
“The Commission urges all political parties, candidates, their supporters, and the general public to continue conducting themselves peacefully and responsibly and to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Code of Conduct,” the notice stated.
