The first president of the China Fujian Association of Zambia, Wu Ming, has called for unity to foster mutual benefits between the Chinese community and Zambians.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 5th Council of the China Fujian Association of Zambia on Tuesday, Ming highlighted the association’s spirit of selfless devotion, which has laid a strong foundation for its establishment.
Ming emphasized that this spirit has positively impacted their social responsibility efforts, enabling them to give back to the community through practical actions that reflect the good merits of the Fujian people.
“Looking ahead, we aim to uphold the principles of unity, coordination, and mutual benefits, deepening the friendship among our compatriots and contributing to the prosperity of the association,” said Ming. “Let us work hand in hand to create a brilliant future and write an even more significant chapter for our association.”
Ming also noted that the establishment of the Fujian Chamber of Commerce of Zambia marks an important milestone in the association’s development. “It creates a wider platform for Fujian enterprises in Zambia and builds new bridges for economic and cooperative ventures between Zambia and China,” he added.
Southern Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa, also speaking at the event, stated that the 5th China Fujian overseas foundation signifies the cooperation and common development between Zambia and China. “I strongly believe that the foundation will create more development opportunities for member enterprises and significantly contribute to promoting friendship and cooperative development between our two countries,” said Nanjuwa.
Chen Shihai, chairman of the Fujian Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, highlighted that Zambia was the first country in Southern Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China. Shihai echoed the President’s words, describing China and Zambia as “all-weather friends” with an unbreakable traditional friendship. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reaching a new milestone.
“Since the foundation of the Fujian Chinese Association of Zambia and the Fujian Chamber of Commerce, under the leadership of President Ming and Gao Youhe, they have actively promoted economic and trade connections, cultural exchanges, and project cooperation,” said Shihai.
Over 30 overseas Chinese associations from Tanzania, the DRC, and Zambia participated in the occasion.
