A Peace, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution Scientist, Tom Njovu, has warned that the escalating tensions in the Middle East threaten to reverse the peace gains achieved over recent decades through diplomacy and cooperation.

Mr Njovu, who holds a Master of Science in Peace, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution from the University of Zambia (UNZA), explained that war must always remain the absolute last resort.

He stressed that history has repeatedly shown that armed conflict brings about devastating humanitarian consequences, economic instability, and long-term insecurity.

Mr Njovu observed that humanity has in the recent past demonstrated that dialogue remains the most powerful tool in resolving conflict.

He emphasized that the progress made in strengthening global peace should not be allowed to regress.

The Scientist urged the United Nations and other multilateral organisations to intensify mediation efforts and create an inclusive platform for negotiations.

He further appealed to all parties involved to prioritize constructive engagement and recommit to meaningful dialogue.

Mr Njovu further explained that sustainable peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, mutual respect, and a genuine willingness to de-escalate tensions.

He said peace is not a sign of weakness but the highest expression of strength and wisdom.
