FAZ Appoints Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee to Boost Revenue and Financial Sustainability

Lusaka, Zambia – May 5, 2026 – The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed a Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee (Adhoc) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its financial position and expand revenue streams.

In a statement issued from Football House in Lusaka, FAZ announced that the committee was formed following a resolution made by the FAZ Executive Committee at its last sitting. The move is aligned with FAZ’s strategic objective of improving commercial sustainability and attracting investments into Zambian football.

Committee Formed Under FIFA Provisions

FAZ stated that the committee has been established as an ad hoc body in accordance with FIFA provisions, and will focus on the association’s commercial activities including sponsorship, investments, and marketing initiatives.

The 17-member committee was appointed under Article 50 of the FAZ Constitution, and brings together experienced professionals from diverse sectors who are expected to provide expert guidance on FAZ’s commercial direction.

FAZ revealed that 16 members have already been appointed, while the 17th member will be announced later.

Mizinga Melu – Banker and Chief Executive Officer at Absa Bank Zambia
Bridget Kambobe – Marketing and Communications Expert
Hazel Couvaras – Customer Experience Director at Zamtel
Brian Siatubi – Head of Corporate Affairs at Konkola Copper Mines
Webster Malido – Journalist and Chief Executive Officer at the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA)
Eugene Phiri – Marketing and Communications Expert

FAZ stated that the appointment of the committee takes effect from May 1, 2026, and will run for a period of 24 months, in line with the committee’s Terms of Reference unless otherwise decided by the FAZ Executive Committee.

FAZ Aims to Tackle Debts and Build Sustainable Income

According to FAZ, the committee will play a key role in supporting efforts to:

dismantle legacy debts
identify sustainable revenue opportunities
bridge financing gaps for operational continuity
promote long-term growth of football in Zambia

The association believes the committee will help unlock new sponsorship deals and investment partnerships to strengthen the financial foundation of Zambian football.

FAZ Strengthens Commercial Direction

The creation of the Commercial and Marketing Advisory Committee comes at a time when FAZ is seeking to modernize its operations and ensure the sport remains financially stable.

FAZ has emphasized that strengthening commercial structures is crucial to supporting national teams, grassroots development, and improving the overall competitiveness of football in Zambia.
