FAZ Gives Update on Coach Nora Häuptle, Confirms She Will Lead Copper Queens at WAFCON 2026

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially clarified the position of Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle following recent public discussions and speculation regarding her future with the Zambia Women’s National Team.

In a press statement issued on 17th May, 2026, FAZ confirmed that all outstanding matters between the Association and Coach Häuptle have now been resolved after a series of engagements involving FAZ President Keith Mweemba.

FAZ Resolves Issues With Nora Häuptle

FAZ Acting Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe stated that the coach has since submitted her travel itinerary to the FAZ Secretariat and is expected to arrive in Zambia in time for the upcoming international engagements.

“All outstanding matters between the Association and Coach Häuptle have been resolved,” Lengwe confirmed.

The clarification comes after growing public concern over whether the Swiss coach would continue leading the Copper Queens ahead of major tournaments.

Copper Queens to Play Four Nations Tournament in June

FAZ also announced that Zambia will participate in a Four Nations Tournament during the June FIFA international window, as part of preparations for upcoming competitions.

The tournament will feature four teams:

Zambia
Kenya
Zimbabwe
Burkina Faso

The Four Nations Tournament is expected to play a key role in sharpening the Copper Queens squad as they build momentum for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

FAZ further assured Zambians that Coach Nora Häuptle will remain in charge of the Copper Queens and will lead the team at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals scheduled for July 2026.

“As things stand at present, Coach Nora will certainly lead the Copper Queens at the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament,” Lengwe emphasized.

This confirmation has brought relief to many football fans who have expressed confidence in the coach’s leadership and tactical approach.

FAZ Focused on WAFCON Preparations

Lengwe said the FAZ Secretariat remains committed to ensuring that the Copper Queens are fully prepared for the WAFCON finals and other upcoming international assignments.

FAZ also thanked the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts as well as members of the public for their continued interest, concern, and support towards the national women’s football team.
