Nakonde Town Council Secretary Kayonde Mutakela says about four workers have been suspended for revenue-collection-related cases.
Mr Mutakela has, however, declined to mentioned who the suspects are are what their roles are.
“They are not guilty yet, they are just suspected that they’ve made an offense,” he said in an interview with reporters shortly after Monday’s consultative meeting.
He added that the queries are from the recent past.
“Whether done in the past or when but it’s to now. I wouldn’t want us to discuss the details of human resource in the public until the process is over because it’s not allowed.”

Earlier in the meeting, the CS declined to respond to Nakonde Ward Councillor Muwemba Mugala’s claims that the council collected more than K8 million but never deposited.
The latest 2021 Auditor General’s report for Local Governments shows the council under collected about K4.6 million from over 111,149 trucks from which over K16.6 million was expected to be raised.
The council claimed the money was lost to trucks that avoided it’s checkpoint using Malawi Road.
But Mr Mugala who until recently served as Chairman for Finance said on the Breakfast Café on Chete FM that he’s ready to prove that the auditors and the new CS were misled.
