Four beach volleyball players from OYDC Zambia are among the players that will make up the national team set to compete for the Beach Volleyball Region 6 Leg IV games to be hosted by Zambia.
OYDC Beach volleyball coach Isaac Tembo has named the players’ Grace Manyele, Grace Daka, Joshua Tembo and Brighton Mwenya.
Tembo says the selection of his players to the national teams shows how much OYDC Zambia is helping sports associations in the country to nurture young talented athletes through the weekend league games such as the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
The games will run from 17 to 22 August 2022 at Siavonga Sandy Beach and will involve all the countries in Southern Africa.
In 2016 the first-ever beach volleyball court in the country was constructed at OYDC in Lusaka with support from Bath University engineering students, Volleyball England, Sport in Action, and Zambia Volleyball Association.
Since its construction, a number of athletes have utilized the facility and subsequently got selected to be playing for different local clubs and national teams.
