The Democratic Union has made some key appointments, with Gerald Mulao taking on the role of Secretary General and Kaunda Phiri as deputy national chairman.
Mulao brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) SG in 2021 and running mate to Andyford Banda.
Mulao is known for his advocacy of electoral reform and has spoken out against injustices in the electoral process.
He has emphasized the need for a level playing field in the country’s political arena.
“The Democratic Union is pleased to announce the following appointments to strengthen our leadership and advance our mission of inclusive national development:
• Kaunda Phiri has been appointed as Deputy National Chairman. His dedication and leadership will play a vital role in guiding our strategic direction and ensuring effective governance.
• Gerald Mulao has been appointed as Secretary General. His expertise and commitment will enhance our organizational efficiency and strengthen communication across all levels of the Union,” party president Ackim Antony Njobvu has announced.
“We extend our congratulations to both leaders and call upon all members to offer their full support as they assume these important responsibilities,” he added.
