GOVERNMENT ADDS 1,900 NEW BENEFICIARIES IN LUANO
Government has increased the number of social cash transfer beneficiaries in Luano District by 1,982 new beneficiaries.
Freelance journalist Winter Mubanga reports from Luano that this has seen the number of beneficiaries rising from 6,312 to 8,294.
Luano District Commissioner Kell’s Meleki says the number of beneficiaries has grown slightly over 6,312 in 2021 to about 8,294 by the end of 2025.
Mr Meleki says the case load has now risen further to 8,294 beneficiaries.
He says the increase reflects the progress being made by the government under President Hakainde Hichilema in expanding the Social Protection Programme to support vulnerable households.
Mr Meleki also disclosed that the District recently took part in payment of more than 1,982 new beneficiaries.
He says each beneficiary is receiving K800 while differently abled beneficiaries are receiving K1,200.
And Mr Meleki has thanked the people of Luano for supporting the programme and the government’s efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable citizens.
