Government closely monitoring Middle East tensions, evacuation plan ready
MINISTER of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe says Government is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East, where war is looming.
The US and Israel launched air strikes on Iran on Saturday, pushing for regime change.
Mr Haimbe said his ministry consistently checks on the welfare of Zambian citizens in the region and already has an evacuation plan in place should there be a need to do so.
He said Government has information about Zambians that may be in danger.
“We just want to reassure Zambians out there that while we have tragic events happening somewhere, we consistently monitor how our Zambian citizens in the diaspora are doing,” Mr Haimbe said.
