Police are investigating an attack on the home of a magistrate in Nakonde, where two gunshots were fired on Thursday afternoon.
The magistrate, Litungi Litungi, was not at home when the incident happened, as he was at work at the subordinate court. His maid, was the only person in the house at the time.

She told the police that she heard a loud noise from the roof and ran outside to seek help from a neighbour. As they were talking outside, another gunshot was heard, and they rushed back into the house.
They then discovered a bullet on a sofa in the sitting room and a hole in the ceiling board. The bullet had penetrated the roof and landed on the furniture.
The maid informed the magistrate of the attack, and he reported the matter to the Nakonde Police Station. The police officers visited the scene and collected the bullet as evidence.
The police chief of Muchinga province, Paul Achiume, has confirmed the incident to Chete FM News. He says a case docket has been opened, and the police are looking for the suspects and the motive behind the attack.
