*HEADMAN LUKWALO CALLS FOR ENHANCED EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN*
Headman Lukwalo of Chieftainess Mungule’s Chiefdom in Chibombo District, Central Province, has called for enhanced education programs for children.
He was speaking during an interview with children supported by ChildFund Zambia to mark this year’s International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICDB).
Headman Lukwalo emphasized the importance of teaching children traditional values and customs to promote their well-being and protection.
He highlighted the need to create a conducive environment for children to grow up with respect for elders and become responsible leaders.
The traditional leader also addressed issues such as child marriage, child labour, and substance abuse, stressing the importance of education and community involvement in tackling these problems.
He noted that traditional leaders play a crucial role in promoting education, especially for girls, by organizing symposia and supporting school activities.
Headman Lukwalo encouraged the use of radio and television programs to educate children about their culture and traditions while balancing modern challenges.
He advised young people to use media responsibly and avoid harmful content.
The headman also emphasized the significance of cultural stories, songs, and proverbs in teaching children important life lessons.
Headman Lukwalo called on communities to support free education and ensure every child has access to learning opportunities for a better future.
