Zambian Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed former Vice President Enock Kavindele as the SADC Head of Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This is in accordance with SADC guidelines, which empower the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation to appoint the Head of Mission.
Recently, President Hakainde Hichilema faced criticism in Zimbabwe when he appointed former Zambian Vice President Nevers Mumba as the Head of Mission. The Zambian President, along with the Head of Mission, was accused of plotting a regime change in Zimbabwe.
The Democratic Republic of Congo goes to the polls on 20th December 2023, with local surveys predicting an outright win for the incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi.
