PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has underscored the potential of the BRICS platform in reshaping global relationships for political and civil stability.
Speaking to a gathering of world leaders today, President Hichilema advocated for structured partnerships that could lead to economic growth and responsible resource exploitation, ultimately contributing to stability in African nations and the broader global south.
Hichilema emphasized the need to move beyond historical imbalances and outdated paradigms, using the BRICS platform to forge connections rooted in mutual benefit.
He shared that this could lead to enhanced political ties, fewer conflicts, and sustained growth.
The Head of State called for partnerships that promote domestic economic growth and ensure responsible resource exploitation, a step that he believes would lead to political and civil stability within African nations and beyond.
And a key theme of his address was the pressing need to reform the existing global economic order, addressing the glaring inequities associated with critical factors such as capital accessibility.
“Africa, as we have already acknowledged, pays a higher cost of capital than any other on the globe,” he remarked.
President Hichilema further stressed the importance of access to technology, which he viewed as an essential enabler of mutually beneficial partnerships.
“Global success cannot be talked about in isolation,” he mphasized, implying that inclusive growth across nations is a prerequisite for genuine global prosperity.
